I returned to Castaways after a few years absence. Dominica is a place where you can get back in touch, slow down, and relax.
Castaways Hotel and the staff there make you feel at home whether it is your first visit or your fifth. The location is great for diving either to the north or south. Inland trips can be organized at the front desk with a guide or self drive.
In addition, the food is a good mix of Caribbean and English. Here you will also have a great view. The rooms are cool and clean, and the balcony is a must.
I am already planning my next trip back to Dominica and Castaways Beach Hotel. |

My husband and I don't like tourist traps and resorts. We love to be with the locals and see how they live. Staying at Castaways gave us a chance to experience the local flavor.
We loved walking just up the beach to the quaint village of Mero and talking with the locals. Castaways had a manmade reef right off the beach for easy snorkeling - complete with a resident turtle.
We loved the staff. They were friendly and attentive. Ask them to teach you how the locals play dominoes. Also, the resident pup, Max, made us feel right at home.
We loved our room. The decor fit right in with the tropics. Watching hummingbirds and sugar birds right off our deck was special. Diving was super, also. I saw many unusual critters that I've never come across before.
A more relaxing, quiet and unspoiled place I couldn't ask for. We'd go again - and we hope to. |

This place was perfect. There were beautiful black sand beaches, and sunsets to dream of forever. Castaways is owned by Linda, who is the most gracious host anyone could possibly want.
Also, the food was excellent. It was not crowded, busy or, hurried. This was also where they filmed the sequel to "Pirates of the Caribbean.
You will go back again and again. |

I was on a cruise and Dominica was on of our stops in march of 2004. I had a tour of the Island and was privilged to rest on the beach of the castaway resort. This year I made a special trip to visit and was amazed with the renovations. I will be making a reservation so I can stay a couple of nights in this lovely place. |

The rooms were very adequate and clean. The grounds were impeccable and provided a pleasant stroll to the beach (which is one of few in Dominica).
They also had good food and reasonable prices. |

Dominica is not the typical Caribbean island, but if you're looking for adventure, this is it.
Last August, we New Yorkers gathered for a four-day celebration of a friend's sunrise wedding. Most of us stayed at the Castaways Beach Hotel, which was right on the water.
Accommodations were clean and modest and, most importantly, a great value. The staff was gracious and arranged many tours which included unbelievable hiking, rain forest excursions and boating. Swimming and snorkeling were right out our door. All dining was casual and very reasonable.
This hotel is a must for people on a budget. |

I returned to Castaways, hoping that it would be as I remembered as a boy - a good 40 years ago. It was still magical, the people were lovely, and the bar and dining area were so very relaxing.
The rooms were well decorated, and the views from the verandahs were exquisite. Also, the food was excellent, and the drinks were as good. The whole place was as charming as the island that it represented. Everyone should stay here. |

The Castaways Beach Hole was quiet with wonderful people. There was also lots to see and do.
As for dining, the wait staff cooked for us "any time we were hungry".
They also had a beautiful beach. And the owners were very accommodating. We will return. |
